Literature about cars - recommendations?

I’m doing a project for my college’s winter session that involves reading stuff having to do with driving and cars. Can you recommend any good novels or literature, or really any narrative form, that have a focus on cars/driving?

(I’m looking for serious stuff, not like, action movies. I enjoy action movies sometimes, but I don’t think my project advisor wants to see any on my bibliography.)
