Help with Windows XP and Blue Screen Nightmare, please?

Asked by Evan (810points) December 19th, 2008

So my laptop began blue screening, and each time would load up saying that there was a problem with “software” in the system32 config folder, in windows. nothing would work to boot the computer, so i installed a second version of windows into a folder called “windows2”. unfortunately, despite being an admin, i could not access my user folder that was set up with the original version of windows. it said “access denied”. and the original version of windows still just blue screened.

so i installed a third version of windows, so that I could copy the config files from the working version of windows, to the non-working original windows. This worked, and the original version of windows would now load up. but it was (not surprisingly) an exact copy of the new version of windows.. and i could still not access the user folder.

is there any genius out there who might have some insight as to how to go about getting access to those files..?
