Can I upgrade from 10.3 to 10.5?

I have a ibook G4, what would be my best option to upgrade the OS, how much slower will it get if I do? I’m not sure I can afford a new laptop right now unless I get something with windows thats not as expensive but still would like to stay with mac. However 10.3 just isnt cutting it these days I feel soo behind…
