Do most cats pick the one inconvenient spot on a bed for themselves?

I have a 78“x 80” bed, left over from my marriage to a tall guy. I use about 30” on the left side. Why does Milo go into his coma phase on the spot where my torso belongs when there is an acre of free space where he will not be unceremoniously dumped on the floor?
