Can anyone tell me their experiences with a 4th generation Grand-Am?

I’m looking into getting a beater car here, and my moms co-worker is trying to sell me her Grand-Am. I’m a car guy but I hate them usually (cuz everyone in them thinks their fast), but for 2 grand I can’t argue if it’s reliable. So I’m just trying to find out how reliable it is. It’s the 4th generation (92–98) so if you have a grand am from one of those years your input is welcome (though this specific one I believe is a 98 or 97). Lets hear it…
