Duplicate files?

I am running iTunes 8.0.2.20. I have a large collection of mp3 files saved from the radio. They are saved in named folders eg The Garrison Keillor show. I add to many of these folders on a weekly basis.
Using a previous version of iTunes, when I dragged the folder into iTunes I got an automatic message asking me if I did not want duplicate files loaded. ie. it only added the new recordings.
Since upgrading to the current version of iTunes, I no longer get this message and have to enter the folder, check which files are already in iTunes and then drag in the new ones. With some of the recordings, this can be a slow process. I have tried to find a way of restoring the duplicate file message but with no success. Can you help?
