Is it rude to not take notes during class?

If I’m in a class and the professor is teaching something that I already know, is it rude to not write it down? I’ve always wondered this because I worry that it might seem as if I’m not paying attention or I don’t care, but if I already know something, I don’t want to write it down, necessarily. Do teachers consider this rude?
