How do I get rid of some junk on iMac like an ancient Int. Explorer?

It popped up recently, from who knows where, and appears as my browser when I restart the iMac. I’m getting Leopard next week, but don’t want this old gal to die on me. Everything is getting slower and when I wake it up from sleep mode, there is a brief hum. When I click on a link, I get two windows, also.
