Did you ever need a gun?

I’m not talking about soldiers, or police or anyone that normally has a gun. I’m not talking about hunting, either. I’ve always wanted to have a gun in the house for protection yet never got one. In retrospect, I realize I never needed one. Did you ever need one unexpectedly? Did you have one?
