Looking for info on homeschooling...any thoughts?

I will be home schooling my son next year he will be in third grade. I am just looking for more info from people who have tried this or people who have researched it. Trying to pick people’s brains so I can be informed on everything..ie what books do you use? how many hours for a third grader? neat ideas for projects? Anything would be helpful..thanks
