How does one go about making Pages '09 print the way I want it too?

Okay, yes I know, that is a dumb tag-line, but I have wasted a LOT of paper, and a LOT more ink, trying to get Pages to print my manuscript in a standard novel style (front and back on the pages.) Right now, if I tell Pages to print Odds first, then Evens, I end up losing a lot of my work, because my mac, and by proxy, my printer, feels it necessary to truncate the remaining 6 to 8 lines of every page, and place them on the next coming page, resulting in the lost of a lot of my words, then when I tell it to print the other set of Even (or Odds) it does the same thing. So, how do I fix this? I want my printer to print what I see on screen, and at this point, I have resorted to writing a script to screen shot every page, then output it to iPhoto, then print those pictures individually. I have grown angry with this method, and, again, by proxy, my mac.
