How do I remove part of a sticky label from a new pair of jeans?

When I peeled off the ‘size sticker’, a very thin layer of it remained in some spots. It seems like it’s almost a part of the fabric now, and won’t scrape or peel off. I’m thinking that washing them might actually set the stuff permanently. Any ideas?
