How do I phrase a Poker Party invitation?

Asked by bananafish (1114points) March 25th, 2009

I’m throwing my husband a birthday poker party, and don’t know what I’m doing, since I don’t know poker very well.

On the invitation I’d like to say something brief about how guests are encouraged to bringing change or cash for chips. The plan is that we’re going to play a low-rent game: Chips ranging from one penny to one dollar. Is there poker lingo for how to phrase this? Is there an invitation etiquette about this? Should I not even mention it??

And are those stakes too high? Too low? We don’t want anyone losing a bundle (since we’re all broke), but I’m hoping that someone might be able to pick up a little bonus amount.

Any other advice you’d have for a poker party would be great!
