Can a security guard really call the POs?

Asked by Ownage (296points) April 13th, 2009

Ok I live in a (recently) gated community apartment complex and theres this one security guard who takes her job too serious. I speed around the complex and through the gate. None of the other guards give a shit but this one refuses to open the gate so I almost slam it, and then threatens to call the po. I pay to live at this complex, so if I want to take the risk of getting a ticket or damaging property (I am insured by the state required amount), I can do so.

Anyway, I never really respected security because they aren’t real po, but I always wondered:

*Do you have to pull over if a security guard tells you to? They aren’t po, so do you legally have to pull over.

*Can a security guard really get you a ticket by calling the real po? It’s your word against security’s. What gives them the right to charge you with a crime.

*Can a security guard deny you access to the house you legally live in and pay for?

Most of the security guards are cool btw, just a few assholes
