One indispensable article of clothing?

I generally avoid speculative questions on the formula “If you could ~~ just one ~~, what would it be?” but decided to break my own rule. I was thinking of this while traveling, being thankful that I’d brought the right things.

I have a beautiful woven jacket that came from here. I bought it seven or eight years ago at a Dickens Fair in San Francisco, and it still looks new and garners many compliments. It’s a gorgeous, dense weave in rich colors, and it’s machine-washable. It’s versatile, goes with jeans and also with a nice skirt, is warm, and has the supreme virtue of being comfortable. If someone yelled “Fire! You can save just one thing from your closet before you run,” that’s what I’d grab.
