Are we inside the black hole being sucked out, or outside the black hole being sucked in?

Is it even possible to know? Common perception leads most of us to think we’re on the outside being sucked in. But demonstrative illustrations of the universe look more like a blobby balloon structure… How do we know we’re not on the inside of it being sucked outward?
