OK, simple question but really poignantly difficult one: Who owns the moon, what sections, and why?

Given the US is the only country to sink their flag into the moon, now if China successfully lands on the moon, and it is their right to do so or else the hubris of US will be fully defined upon China’s denial to do so, where shall we proceed.
