When is the best time to view a meteor shower?

There is a meteor shower happening, visible from the San Francisco Bay Area this week. A blog called “Meteorblog” says it lasts for about 2 weeks, but peaks tonight at 20 meteors/hour. Will I still see shooting stars if I go tomorrow night, one day after the peak date?
