Vista Sidebar on Mac?

I am looking to install something similar to the Vista sidebar (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/sidebar-gadgets.aspx ).

The key feature is that it can slide off screen. (yes I know that the dashboard exists but I don’t want that.)
