What's the first step to moving interstate?

Help! I’m turning 25 this year and want to move interstate. I’m currently living at home with the family in a large country town and have a good government job that pays me well. I’m unhappy. I have said for a long time that I wanted to move but have never had the oppurtune time approach. I have two more months before I can leave, but what are some ground work steps that I can start undertaking to get the ball rolling? I was thinking of contacting job agencies etc, but have never lived away from home (bar some overseas stints) and have gotten scared.
