Will there be a UN resolution about the human rights abuses in Afghanistan?

Having just read this disturbing article in the New York Times about the rights of men in Afghanistan to starve their wives, I wondered whether the UN should weigh in? Also, should the US simply pull our troops out and let nature take its course? Should we be protecting Karzai when he simply doesn’t seem willing or able to protect Afghani women? How can a society accept this behavior?
