OxiClean left my carpet full of chalky residue! HELP!

Asked by iviesmom (1points) August 17th, 2009

So I was searching the net trying to find a way to clean the high traffic areas of my carpet that had been looking really dirty without having to rent a machine or pay someone. I read that OxiClean worked really well for carpet. I mixed it up according to the directions on the box and used a rag to scrub the dirty areas. It came up beautiful. BUT,,, the next morning when it was dry I noticed a chalky residue. I figured it would vacuum out. I filled the vacuum twice with chalk and accually clogged it. So I grabbed my shop vac and used it. I can’t seem to get the chalk out no matter what I do. I have a shampooer that I borrowed but I’m afraid to use it cause I don’t want to clog it too. Should I try to rinse it or keep vacuuming? What do I do? The carpet where I cleaned is like 4 shades lighter than the rest of the rug and all full of chalk. HELP!
