What are the pros and cons of widescale telecommuting?

Telecommuting = working from home.

Some advantages might be that companies would spend less on office space and traffic on the roads would decrease.

Some disadvantages would include people slacking at home instead of working and I.T support would become more difficult ultimately resulting in more downtime.
