What kind of engine should I use?

Asked by kibaxcheza (1091points) September 7th, 2009

I have a 91 Toyota MR-2 and I am going to turn it into a drag/circuit car but im very back and forward on the type of engine I want to put in it ( the stock engine is way too weak and old). I dont know if I should go for raw power in a V8 such as the tundra’s 5DUFE, or a Toystar type build, or if I want to get a straight 6 like the Supra’s 2JZ-GTE and the Gt-r r34 skyline (if I go twin turbo it would be series like the Supra’s set up rather than parallel like the Skyline’s).

The v8 set up would allow me to absolutely fly, but im afraid I would bend my chassis, or worse.

The straight 6 set up would give me much more control, but I feel like I would lose much of my dominance cutting from 600+ hp to a 320+ set up

What do yall think?
