Do you store things in a storage unit?

Asked by PandoraBoxx (18031points) September 10th, 2009

A recent article in Unclutterer mentions that there is 7 square feet of storage unit space for every person in the US. Originally storage units were used by people who were in between locations, to facilitate moving. Now, most people use a storage unit to store things that won’t fit in their house. Given that houses are bigger than ever, this is an interesting commentary on Americans’ relationship with their “stuff.” I used to have a storage unit for extra furniture. I had it for about 18 months and it cost me about $1600 in storage fees.

Do you have a unit? What’s in it and how long have you had it?
