Was Kanye West justified in interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the VMA's to announce that Beyonce's video was the best video of all time?

I don’t normally watch tripe like the VMA’s, but I tuned in for the Michael Jackson tribute and forgot to change the channel.

When Taylor Swift won for Best Female Video (I think), Kanye West went up on the stage, grabbed the mic from her and announced that Beyonce’s video was the best of all time.

Was he justified in doing this? He might have been trying to bring attention to Beyonce being the rightful winner of the award. However, did he have to insult Taylor Swift right on stage, during her moment in the spotlight?

It’s my opinion that Kanye is probably just trying to get some attention for himself by doing (yet another) controversial something or other. Did he go too far this time?

I hope there is no bias showing, as I’m not a fan of any of the above artists
