Bone dust for my puppies: appropriate or not?

I was told that asking a butcher to grind leftover bones into a very fine dust and adding this to my almost 4 month old pups’ meals would make them grow stronger.
True or false?

I remember doing something very similar for my old dog, but he was fully grown.
