What is it about celebrity that seems to compress a lifetime into a few short years?

Was reading today’s news: Avril Lavigne (she’s 25 – when did that happen?!) is already getting divorced after just three years of marriage (no kids, thank G-d).
She also wants to “mellow out” her singing style.
What happened to the little Canadian teen singing Skater-Boi (with an “i” right? Not boy – for whatever reason – not a typo)?
Madonna on divorce number ? – says she’d rather get hit by a train than marry again – and she’s a young 50 – still outperforming everyone else (highest grossing concert tour of the year, btw.)
