Re-Plugging a Wireless Router back in?

If you re-plug a wireless router back in, but in the wrong order will the internet continue to function for awhile and then suddenly stop? My boss, at the cafe I work at, is convinced I switched the plugs on the wireless router and is upset because he called a tech person then found the cords were switched, after the internet stopped working yesterday afternoon. My side of the story is, when I replugged the cords back in to the router the internet was back up and working for the next hour or so, before my shift ended, so I thought i had done it correctly….
