Is there a way in the Fluther editor to set off a clause with dashes without causing the clause to be struck out?

If there is a way==other than something funky like this—I haven’t been able to figure it out.

It seems like you would have far more occasion to set clauses off with dashes—especially if you are writing in a hurry—than you would displaying text with strike-through; so I am mystified why it is so difficult to do the former and so easy to do the latter.
