If you could build your own home and put any invention or convenience in it that you wanted, what would you choose?

It has to be realistic! No “self cleaning kitchens!”

I would put a trap door in the floor in every non-carpeted room in the house, one that I could open by stepping on a lever, so that when I swept I could just sweep whatever into the hole in the floor and be done with it! (Except maybe to empty the bin that catches it all every couple of months.) That way I wouldn’t have to screw with dustpans or (in my my case) crawling around with a shop vac cleaning up the piles of dirt I’ve been stock piling because I don’t HAVE a dust pan. (And I don’t WANT a dustpan! I HATE dustpans! You can never get it all swept up into a dustpan, no matter how hard you fight!) With a trap door I’d be sweeping my floors clean three times a day, easy.
