Thanksgiving meal. Are there favorites you're happy to have remain the same year after year instead of having them modified by a new recipie?

I read a lot of people wanting to try new dishes. My own mother insists over the protests of anyone else to try new dishes. Is there some sort of repulsive American Pie-ness to want some simple things left simple? I’m one of those people who look forward to holiday foods that I wouldn’t usually let myself eat the rest of the year or I associate those foods with particular good memories I want to indulge in all at once on that holiday. Martha Stewart, O and for so many years Sunset magazine have been the bane of our holiday table.
