When you were a kid, in the winter, playing in the snow, playing outside even when it was windy, do you recall cold ever being an issue?

I remember the results of being cold…holding my hands under cold water to bring some feeling back into them (cold water, because warm water would make them feel like they were on fire and it hurt!)

Gosh, as a kid, I remember sliding around on the ice on the frozen over creek, breaking through, landing in water up to my knees. By the time I made it back to the house, 50 yards away, my jeans would be frozen stiff! But I only remember having to walk stiff legged…I don’t remember being cold because of it. I’d just change and go right back out…

However, since becoming an adult I abhor being cold! Why wasn’t it an issue when I was a kid? Why don’t I remember it?
