How do you properly wrap lights around a Christmas tree?

My dad usually sets up the tree, but he’s on a business trip for the week and my mom is in the hospital with my sister for a few days.

So I’m decorating the house.

Do you just start at the top and wind them down?
I feel dumb for not knowing how to do this.
