High white cell count, abdominal pain & high temp?

Asked by pollypineapple (10points) December 12th, 2009

Thursday lunchtime I was at work when I was hit with a sudden agonising pain in my lower abdomen. This got worse as the day went on. I couldnt even make my way home from work and my dad had to fetch me. Him and my Mum took me straight to A&E. There they rushed me in, did urine tests, bloods. They said I had high white cell count and despite shivering like mad I had a high temp. I was given Morphine to calm me down as I was almost hysterical with the pain. Taken to Gynae, they did stomach scan, said it was nothing Gynae related, took swabs and said they would pass results to GP. Admitted to a general ward that night and basically made to feel like a hypochondriac! Dr insisted that it was constipation, but I was NOT constipated, I told them this, they ignored me. I had a camera down my throat in October where they said I had a hiatus hernia, but this time in hospital they said it was nothing to do with that, so the hernia was ruled out. Waterworks were fine, as were the bowels. I felt nauseous, but never actually vomitted. Pregnancy ruled out. I had a smear in August which was normal. About 3 weeks ago I had a sudden irregular period of bleeding, it came and went within the 1 day and was very light, a week later the same thing happened, I bled for one day and it was very light. Then at the weekend I bled very very heavy, I told them this, but they still insisted it was not gynae related. I never have irregular periods, they are never heavy either. I have just been discharged, still in agony, the Doctors and Nurses looked at me like it was all in my head. I have still got abdominal pain and now chest pains. I am very worried, especially with the high white cell count. I am otherwise a healthy person, active, slim, non smoker, occasional drinker, no allergies, I cant explain it. Any help appreciated.
