Can you use a burr coffee grinder to grind less coffee than the minimum capacity?

I have a new fancy burr coffee grinder that I have not yet opened. It says it has a capacity of 4 – 32 cups. Problem is, I rarely make more than 2 cups of coffee at a time.
And so, I don’t want to open this thing until I’m sure I can just grind a few tablespoons of coffee at a time. Can I?
