Why does DVD player prompt "No Disc" after loading?

Dynex TV/DVD combo virtually new, yet it suddenly stopped reading dvds. Haven’t tried a dvd lens cleaner yet; was wondering if anyone had an idea of why this has occurred and what a remedy might be should the lens cleaner not work.
