Do you dress to please your partner?

Asked by LC_Beta (1883points) January 19th, 2010 from iPhone

I wouldn’t say I that I hate wearing a dress, but I definitely don’t like wearing a dress. I often feel self-conscious, too “girly”, cold, or just plain uncomfortable in a dress. But my partner, for some reason, loves to see me dress up.

The feminist in me screams, “don’t do anything you don’t want to do just because it’s socially expected!” But the other half of me says, “stop being so selfish and just wear the stupid dress.”

Where do you stand? Do you dress in a way that you don’t like in order to please your partner? I’m not talking about social events that have a required dress-code, which is a whole different ball-game.

I know the simple answer is just that relationships are about give and take, compromise and the like. But if you have any other thoughts on the subject, I’d like to hear them
