Has anyone managed to break Murphy's law?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) January 31st, 2010

Most of us have heard Murphy’s law, the familiar adage saying, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”. Certainly anyone pursuing a career or studies in engineering or science has heard it. In 1841 a newspaper in Norwalk, Ohio captured the essence of the aphorism in this verse (a parody of famous lines in Thomas Moore’s Lalla Rookh

I never had a slice of bread,
Particularly large and wide,
That did not fall upon the floor,
And always on the buttered side.

But is Murphy’s law a law of nature, as quantum mechanics is a law—or is it a human law, capable of being broken? Is it really Murphy’s law, or just Murphy’s flaw?
