Is America a Democracy or a Republic?

Which is it?

Can you explain to me more or is it a mix?

Everyone has a say in America but do we really?

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. ”

“to the republic for which it stands” Are we saying that we agree with what the republic stands for at the moment, and not the overall ideal that is America?

If it is a “mix” then what is it called then?

It seems to me it is a republic.
