How long will Scott Brown's "I'm Scott Brown and I drive a truck." mantra work as a political "Voodoo" incantation?

Such were Brown’s average-guy bona fides in the Massachusetts race against ‘elitist’ Martha Coakley—who didn’t even like the Red Socks! And now he’s using the same line in Arizona—where it arguably will have even more of a cache—in his support of Sen. John McCain’s reelection bid.

If it works for Brown, shouldn’t all erstwhile politicians buy a truck? If Queen Elizabeth of Prince Charles wanted to influence American Politics, would buying a truck turn transform them into average Joes?
