I live in an apartment building, where can I go paint or spray paint something?

I live in an older apartment building, all the units on the inside with no courtyard. You step out of the building and you’re on the sidewalk. No yards, just a quiet street where we park our cars.

Now I want to finish a few projects of mine that requiring painting and spray painting. Should I just go out on the sidewalk, lay down some newspaper and spray away? I don’t want to have to stay out there the whole time to wait for it to dry…. Anyone been in this situation before? What have you done?
