Name a classic story that is well known:?

Ok, well for an English project, my teacher wants us to twist a classic story by changing a certain element such as setting or character, while keeping the same, recognizable plot. I cannot think of a good story that everyone knows of. An example was of the Wizard of Oz after an apocalypse. Can someone help me find a story with a good recognizable plot?
