Why do objects in mirrors still appear blurry for people with poor eyesight?

I’m near-sighted and when I look at something that is far away through a mirror it is still out of focus. I figured that the light reflecting off the mirror would be a perfect representation of the distant object and thus appear perfectly clear but I’m obviously wrong. How does this work and why?
