Is it possible to steal on an airplane?

I was thinking about this the other day. Do people steal things on airplanes? Considering the close proximity of everyone, is it really possible to get away with it? It would have to be well planned out, and you would have to not bring attention to yourself. How could you not though if you might need to stand up and go into the over head. And then you would have to ultimately know who you would be stealing from, has something worth stealing. They would also have to sit next to or near you. You can’t just run through the aisles. And then if you are even able to steal, who says the stewardess wouldn’t notice. It’s not as if you would have a place to run.

So, is an airplane the one place you can be with a bunch of strangers, and know that there is no chance you could have anything stolen? Or maybe people have succeeded in stealing on an airplane, and been so stealthy they got away with it so no one knew.
