What's the white stuff that's on top of the food that's been in the fridge for at least 3 days now?

Their’s nothing to eat in this house and i’m hungry! Theirs a pot of food that’s been in the fridge for about 3 – 4 days now. But theirs a white layer on top that’s covering half of it. The food has been covered. What could this be? Mold?
