Is there any way to get utilities turned on on Friday morning instead of waiting the following Monday?

I’ve called and called the utility company, requesting service to be turned on in my name, but they refuse to come out or do whatever it is they do to turn the power on. I just bought a new condo but they tell me it’s not an emergency. They can’t do anything until after the weekend.

I even told them a sob story about my elderly mom coming for a visit and that she was very sick but they didn’t budge.

It’s a hundred sweltering degrees outside and you could literally pass out from no air conditiong in that kind of heat. The only option I have is to check into a hotel until Monday and hope they turn power on then.

Has anyone been through this and is there a reason why they refuse to help me? Don’t I have some kind of rights?
