Which are free upload and share web sites?

Asked by prasad (3859points) November 21st, 2009

I know rapidshare, but it allows only 10 downloads; and I guess it removes the file after some days.

Are there any sites according to file types? such as photobucket and picasa for photos.

Sending through emails allows maximum 20 MB (e.g. gmail), and it won’t be helpful for some times like when I want to share a file here on fluther.

Any suggestions?

Dropbox and Hotfile allow larger files for sharing. Dropbox will synchronise a folder on your PC so it’s really simple.

I can’t see MySites lasting very long though. They’ll probably get crumpled by their bandwidth costs alone.

You gotta have limits.

@archaeopteryx, why do you think it’s the best? To me, it looks like a FB app that was made by a high school student.

Well, there are no upload limits.
No resizing of photos.
No logos added to your content.
No upload or download or bandwidth limits.

@archaeopteryx Which is why they will crash and burn :( Unless they have a ton of funding from other projects…

I personally fail to see how giving it a try would hurt. :-)

@archaeopteryx :) Sorry, it wouldn’t.
As long as it doesn’t become a cheap back-up solution xD

@archaeopteryx, there is a little more information about them in TechCrunch and Mashable.

It has an upload limit of 10GB in almost any format. Their target audience is students, artists and gamers.
