I saw a gun in the airsoft gun aisle at a Sports Authority store. How come it didn't have an orange tip?

Or was it not really an airsoft gun???

It was probably a regular pellet or BB gun, which are not required to have orange tips.

Look at the barrel opening. Was it 4.5 mm (0.177”) or 6mm (.25”)?
The larger diameters are supposed to have the orange tip. You can buy them without the orange in Japan.
