Reebok Easytone or Skechers Shape-ups?

Asked by Tamara (159points) October 22nd, 2010

If you own one or both of these brands, are the shoes really comfortable to wear? As they were designed to tone the muscles while walking.

I cannot decide either. I know this is difficult to choose between the both brands, especially the styles.

I don’t know how well they work, or if they actually work at all, but I was given the Reebok’s as a gift not that long ago. They’re actually much more comfortable than I thought they would be. The toe area is roomy, so your feet won’t cramp up from walking a lot, either. They breathe extremely well – which is important when walking a lot. Taking your first steps is a little awkward, because you do have to balance a little differently, but you can tell what muscles you use compared to normal.

@DrasticDreamer, Great Answer! Thanks for sharing! The only way to find out how well they work is to put them to the test for 8 to 10 laps around a local track or in my case, I work at a job that involves a lot of standing-up and walking throughout the day. I don’t own any of these pairs, but I look forward into purchasing a pair, maybe the Reebok’s because Reebok is very well known in the fitness industry, and the colors black with pink catch my attention. I am glad to know the shoes are comfortable to wear.

I have the Reeboks runtone. They are better than the easytone if want to do more with your workout than running or walking. Besides, I think the Shape-ups look silly.

@Deja_vu, Thanks for sharing! That is good to know you have the runtone, you must do some highly intense workouts by advising me if I want to do more than running or walking. You must be triathlon runner. :) But better than easytone? Lolz, I’ve heard the runtone are just a “bit” better and that the easytone aren’t meant for a lot of running and the runtone is designed for runners. Hence the greedy name, LM@O. Although I need them for walking since I walk almost 2 miles a day at my job, 10 hours from Mon-Fri were I would want my feet to feel that extra cushion.

I am more convinced about the easytone, black & pink are my favorite colors, especially when those colors are in athletic shoes. The easytone are built perfectly and are very stylish whether it’s about being indoors/outdoors like lounging around the house and feeling comfortable, going out to a store, going out to a grocery store, going out to a movie theater, etc were walking is mostly involved, as the easytone is widely well known to even get a better rear end, more trimmer legs and improved posture simply by walking; that is what also caught my attention.

@Deja_vu, I forgot to mention the Skechers, they look comfortable and are nice, but as I had made it clear in my other comment in regards to DrasticDreamer when I posted, “maybe the Reebok’s because Reebok is very well known in the fitness industry.” But I wouldn’t mind owning a pair of the Skechers regardless after my grandmother had mentioned the same thing you did that the Shape-Ups look silly. lol

As a guy I would look forward into purchasing the Skechers Shape-Ups for men without the pink accents. :( The reason I would go with the Skechers brand is because I already have a solid black pair of men’s Reebok Easytone like the link that I added and their not just for women anymore. Who doesn’t want rock hard thighs and firm glutes? When easytone first came out, that’s the question men everywhere should of have been asking Reebok after they became the first major shoe manufacturer to bring out their own leg-toning walking shoe, marketed, like similar shoes before it, given to the ladies first. But now men get to enjoy the Reebok Easytone for daily activities of walking.

When I first purchased the easytone about a month ago, I was impressed the shoes do work health and fitness wonders and are worth every dollar. If you ever plan to run in a marathon, I would suggest you go with the runtone because of “name purposes.” My sister is a workout guru and she owns both easytone, runtone. By her experience, she wears the easytone for exercise activities, including running laps around the school track and throughout the neighborhood areas while she wears runtone for marathon running but has found the easytone offers far more posture support, improved walking and improved workouts.

In case you didn’t know, the sole of the easytone shoe is designed with built-in balance pods, inspired by the balance ball equipment you see at the gym. By creating an imperceptible level of micro-instability, right in your sole, the easytone causes the muscles in your calves, hamstrings, and glutes to react in order to maintain balance just by walking as a daily basis.

@skillcapes7, Great answer! Thank you! I’m completely convinced. The men’s easytone look nice by the way. I like how you explained about the health benefits that Reebok Easytone provides by just walking as a daily basis to improve in posture, walking and working out while toning-up the calves, thighs, hamstrings and glutes by simply walking. And like you ask, “Who doesn’t want rock hard thighs and firm glutes?” I definitely wouldn’t mind getting that extra toning in my thighs and glutes. :)
